Grow Like a Pro

Each scoop of Pro JYM delivers 24 grams of pure, quality protein. It’s not "spiked" with single amino acids to artificially increase the protein content or made with cheap and inferior whey protein concentrate or caseinates. To make Pro JYM, I selected only the highest quality whey protein isolate, micellar casein, milk protein isolate, and egg white protein (egg albumin).

The 24 grams of protein in each scoop of Pro JYM contain the following:• Whey protein isolate: 7.5g

  • Whey protein isolate: 7.5g
  • Micellar casein: 7g
  • Egg albumin: 2.5g
  • Milk protein isolate: 7g (5.5g casein, 1.5g whey)

Since milk protein isolate is 20 percent whey protein and 80 percent micellar casein, the 24 grams of protein in Pro JYM are really broken down into three main categories:

Protein chart
A Blend is Best

While a high-quality protein powder should be at the top of everyone's supplement shopping list, don't make the common mistake of buying a pure whey protein powder right off the bat. Yes, whey protein is a critical staple for muscle growth, but to truly maximize growth, you need more than just whey. You need a precise blend of performance proteins.

Whey is a very fast-digesting protein. The rapid rate of digestion is one of whey's benefits, but on its own, this quality can actually be a downfall. Because whey digests so fast, it quickly boosts muscle protein synthesis (MPS). However, it only boosts MPS for a short amount of time.

Research now shows that when you add medium-digesting and slow-digesting proteins to whey, muscle protein synthesis remains elevated for longer than when using whey alone. Since muscle protein synthesis leads to muscle growth, elevating muscle protein synthesis for longer can have a significant impact on your overall gains.

In fact, research suggests that people who add slow-digesting casein protein to a whey protein shake around their workouts enjoy greater muscle growth over time than people taking whey alone. This research is the very reason I recommend taking a blend of fast-digesting whey protein, medium-digesting egg protein, and slow-digesting micellar casein.

Say No to Protein Spiking!

Many supplement manufacturers cut corners on their protein powders because high-quality protein is very expensive to make. They often use a dirty trick called “nitrogen spiking.” Nitrogen spiking, also called “amino spiking” or “protein spiking,” is a way to manipulate the test used to measure the protein content of protein powders.

The current method used to assess the amount of protein in a protein powder involves measuring the nitrogen content, which is then converted into protein amount. Nitrogen is used because protein is made of amino acids strung together in a chain, much like a pearl necklace, and every amino acid contains nitrogen. If manufacturers add loose amino acids to a powder, they can fool the test and deliver less pure protein than their labels claim.

Many people think that extra amino acids in their protein powder are beneficial. The major problem, however, is that certain amino acids are not added to make the protein powder more effective. Instead, they're simply added for their nitrogen. Most single amino acids, such as taurine and glycine, are much cheaper than whey protein, casein protein, milk protein, or egg protein. Even highly beneficial amino acids like BCAAs and glutamine are cheaper than protein powder. So, by adding a bunch of cheaper amino acids to their protein powders, supplement companies can boost their nitrogen content, which technically means they boost the amount of protein per serving, at least according to the nitrogen test.

Because the added amino acids are not complete proteins, the protein content of a spiked protein powder is not truly what a nitrogen test claims it is. For example, a whey protein powder may claim to contain 20 grams of protein per scoop. However, if the manufacturer added 5 grams of glycine per serving, then you are only getting 15 grams of actual whey protein and 5 grams of glycine, which would read as 20 grams of protein per serving.

An even bigger problem arises when proteins are spiked with amino acids that aren't used as building blocks to form proteins in the body. Taurine is once such amino acid. Taurine helps with energy production, so you might first be excited to see a high quantity of it in your protein. However, if 5 grams of taurine has been added to your protein powder that claims to contain 20 grams of protein per serving, you are only getting 15 grams of real protein and 5 grams of taurine. So the extra taurine comes at the expense of total protein.

If your favorite protein powder lists BCAAs, glutamine, beta-alanine, betaine (trimethylglycine), or creatine, you might think it’s a great product because of the additional nutrients. Yes, your protein contains these performance nutrients, but you may be getting them at the expense of the protein, not in addition to the protein. All those ingredients are nitrogen-containing compounds that count towards the total protein amount listed on the label. You might be getting up to 10 grams less protein per serving than listed on the label.

The rampant use of nitrogen spiking is the main reason why I list the precise amount of each protein in every 24 gram serving of Pro JYM. Whey protein isolate makes up 7.5 grams, micellar casein makes up 7 grams, and milk protein isolate makes up 7 grams, and the remaining 2.5 grams comes from egg white protein (egg albumen). That totals 24 grams from complete proteins with no added amino acids or filler nutrients.

The Power of Pro

As with every other supplement in the JYM line, I want you to know the exact ingredients and doses in Pro JYM. I want you to see that it contains nothing but a pure blend of high-quality proteins in the exact amounts needed to maximize growth, recovery, and repair. In short, I want you to grow like a pro.

Doesn't mix with water that well. Has actual marshmallows in it and if you have the free bodybuilding shaker they don't fit through the mesh unless you soak them for a long time.

The best thing about Pro Jym is the blend of 4 different proteins without buying 4 different products. It is a bit pricey but definitely but saves money if you only want to buy 1 protein product instead of multiple and also eliminates the question of how a self blended protein might taste. The biggest downside is no aminos which is not an issue if you invest in the entire pricey line (tons of aminos in the pre & post) or buy a separate amino supplement from a different line. A lot of people have to adjust to the texture difference vs just whey protein, it's a bit thicker like cow milk or a milkshake. After getting used to it, I no longer like the taste of straight whey products. They generally taste good and all taste even better cold and/or using milk instead of water. Not only do they help with your muscle building goals, but help curb cravings by keeping your appetite satisfied without the bloated feeling and tasting like a treat (some better than others but kind of like a milkshake). The old Chocolate Cookie Crunch was 10/10, but the new flavor does not taste like chocolate; it tastes more like the Caramel Macchiato with bits of the cookie pieces in it. The taste isn't awful unless you're expecting it to taste like chocolate, the old recipe tasted straight up like a delicious milkshake. The Caramel Macchiato flavor doesn't really taste like caramel or coffee to me. It's kind of hard to say what it tastes like. Again the flavor itself it palatable if you're not expecting it to taste what the label says. The S'mores flavor used to be my 2nd favorite (out of the ones I've tried) but now is my favorite since Jim changed the Chocolate Cookie Crunch. It tastes mostly chocolatey with a small hint of graham cracker flavor without the graham cracker grittiness. There are also little tiny marshmallows like the ones in hot chocolate packets which I love but may not be for everyone. The marshmallows are crunchy unless you let it sit and absorb more liquid. I've also tried the Cookies & Cream but decided not to rate it because it's been so long. Unless its been changed, it basically tasted like a vanilla milkshake with tiny bits of cookie (like the Chocolate Cookie Crunch). It was very good, and I wouldn't mind getting it again but prefer having chocolate everyday.

My favorite protein on the market and the smores is the best flavor I've ever tried. Taste good in water, but it taste excellent in milk. The chocolate mousse is the same way, but I like using it to make a smoothie rather than as a pre-workout.

I've wrote a review on Pro Jym before but wanted to submit my views on the new Choc Peanut Butter. The peanut butter taste is very subtle. It sort of tastes like a Reese's peanut butter cup. Doesn't taste artificial and chemically like some other brands. Another quality flavor from Jim.

Other than the chalky taste after several weeks of using this product I have been noticing a difference in my recovery. I am impressed. I will definitely be exploring the different flavors before settling on one. I am sold on this Brand for all my supplementation needs.

Digest easily, no big issues here but I have a big problem with the yield!!! 60% of protein per serving is quite weak add to that all the gum things and additives!!! This can be a superb product if you just cut all the additional things we don’t NEED!!!

I have been purchasing Jym back when they had legacy flavors and I've been using the products through the various formula changes since 2016. This is pretty much one the best tasting, most drinkable and best mixing shake on the market. One of the biggest reasons for any protein shake to be excellent in any those characteristic is due to whatever creamer they use. My diet is typicaly low carb and high fat, so the added creamer is not really a concern and welcomed. This product will do fine with just water, or sometimes i'll do a splash of almond milk to add color. This powder can even pass as a dessert in my opinion which kills two birds with one stone - for satisfying sweet tooths and hitting protein goals. I higly recommend the smores. I was skeptical when the Smores flavored returned, but I finally took a chance recently and ordered it after a 2 year hiatus and luckly it's just as awesome as it was in 2016. I like the Tahitian Vanilla for cooking (protein pancakes). My husband like the mint chocolate chip and mocha. The other flavors are alright, like the root beer float, banana, cookie crunch, cookies and cream but the smores will also be my go-to. Those little marshmellows bring out the best in me

The legacy chocolate cookie crunch was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted...ever since they came back to bodybuilding and switched to the coconut creamer there is quite an obvious drop in all chocolate-based flavors, especially this one. I would liken it to have chocolate milk as the base flavor and now it is more like chocolate pudding as the base. It still tastes good, but knowing how AMAZING the original one was, I wish it were back to that, and then I wish I could taste the chocolate peanut butter with the original creamer used as well! The caramel macchiato is phenomenal. It is now my favorite due to the obvious drop in taste of chocolate cookie crunch

Hands down, this protein, (and all of the Jym line) are grade A products. Yes, they may cost a little extra. But we all know you get what you pay for. This protein in taste alone is amazing! It’s thick and delicious and has an amazing taste! No filler, high quality ingredients.

The flavors are very tasty with a very gritty like texture which sticks to your cup, mixibility is very poor. Ive seen pretty good results regardless.
